City hit with flash flooding as stormy weather pattern persists

National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning for the Manchester area on Monday at about 5:15 p.m.

MANCHESTER, NH – The skies opened up mid-afternoon on Monday bringing heavy rain to areas of Southern New Hampshire, including Manchester, closing streets, stranding motorists, and preventing passage as flooded streets were transformed into small bodies of water.

In some places sewer covers were forced up from the overflow of water, with anecdotal reports of flooded basements and leaky buildings related to the downpour, all in proximity to a flash-flood warning issued just after 5 p.m. by the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine.
