MANCHESTER, NH – The skies opened up mid-afternoon on Monday bringing heavy rain to areas of Southern New Hampshire, including Manchester, closing streets, stranding motorists, and preventing passage as flooded streets were transformed into small bodies of water.
In some places sewer covers were forced up from the overflow of water, with anecdotal reports of flooded basements and leaky buildings related to the downpour, all in proximity to a flash-flood warning issued just after 5 p.m. by the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine.

The warning included south central Merrimack County in Central New Hampshire; Southern Hillsborough County in southern New Hampshire; and Western Rockingham County in southern New Hampshire and remained in effect until 8 p.m. in areas including Manchester, Nashua, Merrimack, Bedford, Milford, Hooksett, Amherst, Litchfield and Hollis as well as I- 93 between mile markers 20 and 32 and I-293 between mile markers 1 and 11.
