Summer-like Day

After a holiday weekend with temperatures lingering in the 50s, a summer-like warmth is expected for today, with highs reaching the lower 80s. This transition will prompt many people to turn their air conditioners back on, having potentially relied on their furnaces over the weekend. However, temperatures will not rise as much as they did last week, when some areas set May temperature records in the 90s. Get ready for temperatures to drop below normal at the end of the week into the weekend.

Highs will reach the mid-60s, except in the upper 50s at elevations above 5,000 feet. Northwest winds will be 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 70 mph. Elevations between 2,500 and 4,000 feet in Northern New Hampshire. Today: Summits obscured in the morning, followed by summits intermittently in and out of clouds. High temperatures will reach the upper 60s. Northwest winds will blow at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph.

According to the USCG, when the water temperature is below 60 degrees, the average submerged person could lose dexterity within minutes and become unable to perform simple tasks such as buckling a life jacket or operating a radio. Weirs Beach Today: West winds are blowing at around 10 mph, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph. The waves are approximately 2 feet high. The weather is partly sunny, with a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. High temperatures are expected to be around 80 degrees, with a 20 percent chance of rain. The water temperature is currently 54 degrees. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, when the water temperature falls below 60 degrees, the average person submerged in water can lose dexterity within minutes, making it difficult to perform simple tasks, such as buckling a life jacket or operating a radio.
