This yearโs spring leaf-out has been a mix of early and late arrivals. Early in the year, spring showed up more than two weeks ahead of the 1991-2020 average in parts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, but then stalled due to cold weather, arriving over a week late in some areas of the Southeast. Now itโs moving north again, running 3-5 weeks early in parts of Colorado, Kansas, and the Northern Great Plains. Coastal Southeast states are seeing it 1-2 weeks late, while southern Midwest states are 2-3 weeks ahead. Out West, spring is spreading north and to higher elevations, showing up on time to several weeks early. Boise, ID is 16 days early, Omaha, NE is 18 days early, Cleveland, OH is 17 days early, Pittsburgh, PA is 15 days early, and Philadelphia, PA is 3 days early.
