MANCHESTER, NH – It’s Christmas week, and high school teams from around Manchester are already treating local supporters to plenty of pre-holiday action as they head into their winter campaigns. Here’s a glance at some of the action over the last week:

Girls Basketball
Manchester Memorial
The Crusaders opened their season under first-year head coach Lauren Gaudette with a 73-41 loss at Alvirne on Dec. 13. The Crusaders were led by Avery Jenkins with 11 points, followed by Jenavyzia Collazo and Ashlyn Bartnicki with seven and five points, respectively.
On Monday, Dec. 16, the Crusaders lost to Keene. Bartnicki, Jaelyn Hartford and Kelly Legallo each provided five points.
Then, on Thursday, Dec. 19, Memorial fell to defending Division-I champ Concord Christian, which moved up to D-I play this year, 55-20.
Harper Lefond led the Crusaders in scoring with six points, followed by Hartford, with five, and Collazo, with four.

Indoor track
City teams, including Central, West, Memorial and Trinity, all traveled north to Plymouth State University Saturday, Dec. 21 where they competed against one another and several other New Hampshire High Schools.
Central placed third among the boys and sixth for the girls; while Memorial was 10th for boys and 11th for girls and the Trinity boys came in sixth and the girls were 12th.
There were several standout performances among Queen City athletes, including West’s Eshaya Lauder, who took first in long jump and second in high jump, and standout freshman Leticia Tyler who earned a personal record in her second competition with a jump of 13-feet, 9 inches.
Logan Fournier and Sebastian Marziano finished 6th and 8th, respectively, in the 55-meter hurdles with times of 10.05 and 10.56.
David Leonard finished eighth in the high jump with a jump of 5-feet, 6 inches; and Blake Bickford was 10th in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:42.18.
The boys 4×200-meter relay team of Bedum Bedum, David Leonard, Mohammed Olanrewaju and Elias Rosado finished 3rd.
For the Memorial girls, Hannah Rodriguez finished sixth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.89 seconds and fifth in long jump with a jump of 15-feet, 7-inches; and Fatumo Nurr finished 8th in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:58.74.

Competing at the Nor’Easter Invitational on Saturday, five Blue Knights placed in the tournament.
Angel Diaz took fifth among 106-pounders; Samuel Cruz was fourth among 126-pounders; Colin Taylor was fifth in the 144-pound bracket; 157-pounder Jhystoni Rivera earned fourth and 215-pounder Jayden Nartey came in fifth.
