Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 7 p.m.; beware of ‘ice pellets’

MANCHESTER, NH โ€” A Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 p.m.ย Feb. 23 toย 7 a.m. Feb. 24, with “ice pellets” in the forecast, according to the Weather Underground.

Good news: School vacation week means you don’t have to get up early to check for a delay. However, the bad news is that travel advisories have been issued for those of us not on vacation.

Expect snow, sleet and freezing rain, with accumulations expected from a coating up to 2 inches of snow, followed by lessย than a tenth of an inch of ice.

Snow will continueย overnight and eventually change to sleet and freezing rain lateย Tuesdayย or early Wednesday morning. A change to plain rain isย expected Wednesday morning, and in some places, late Tuesday.

Local travel will be hazardous.ย Temperatures in the lower 30s, rising well into the 30s Wednesdayย and Wednesday night, and then into the 50s Thursday.

Be prepared forย slippery roads and limited visibility early Wednesday, and use caution whileย driving.ย For a more precise forecast for your specific location click here.

As for the rest of the Wednesday, more rain, into Wednesday night, which will bring more rain, and even some thunder-boomers possible.
