MANCHESTER, NH — City fire crews responded to a three-story wood frame house at 30-32 Russell St. at 3:02 a.m. on April 17. They arrived to find heavy fire engulfing the rear porches, with extension to the attic space. Several occupants were evacuated from the building, and no injuries were reported.
The fire quickly spread and threatened another building on Pearl Street, which also was evacuated. There was limited access to the rear of the building for fire companies and an additional alarm was required for more manpower to bring the fire under control at about 4:02 a.m.
According to the Red Cross, three families were affected by the fire, including 7 adults and 3 children. They were provided services by Red Cross volunteers.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Estimated damage is $100,000.
