WHEELING, W. Va –ย  The Manchester Monarchs and Wheeling Nailers are once again tied atop the ECHL North Division standings after a 4-2 Wheeling victory on Sunday.

Although the Nailers couldnโ€™t quite reproduce Saturdayโ€™s barrage of shots, they did almost double Manchesterโ€™s shot total in the first period, leading to goals from Reid Gardiner and Cody Wydo.

While Alexx Privitera brought the Monarchs back within one early in the second period, they couldnโ€™t tie the game despite turning the tables in the shot count, doubling Wheelingโ€™s total between the first and second intermissions.

Cam Brown would seal Wheelingโ€™s victory 51 seconds into the third period with a goal right in front of the crease.

Gardiner would later add his second goal and Manchesterโ€™s Michael Doherty also added an inconsequential power play goal to complete the score line and bring Manchesterโ€™s power play goal streak up to seven straight games.

Wheeling and Manchester now both have 54 points on the season, with Reading and Adirondack closely behind at 52.

The Monarchs return to SNHU Arena on Wednesday, January 31 (7 p.m.) where they host the Brampton Beast for the first time this season.
