AG’s office brought in to investigate ‘suspicious death’

MANCHESTER, NH โ€” Deputy Attorney General Jane E. Young and Manchester Police Chief Carlo T. Capano announce that an investigation into a suspicious death of an adult male in Manchester. The investigation is being conducted by the Manchester Police Department in conjunction with the Attorney Generalโ€™s Office.

A man suffering a gunshot wound was brought to a local hospital earlier Tuesday evening, and police activity in the area of Queen City Avenue near Elliot at River’s Edge is related to that investigation, WMUR reports. On Wednesday morning, Senior Assistant Attorney General Peter Hinckley said he could not confirm that the investigation was related to the earlier shooting.

WMUR also reported Tuesday night that a section of South Willow Street was closed with police units in the area, but police have not confirmed if that is related to the shooting investigation and/or the suspicious death investigation.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until his next of kin can be notified. An autopsy is scheduled for July 3 by the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examinerโ€™s Office.

Hinckley said more information, including the identity of the deceased, would be released sometime Wednesday, pending autopsy results.
