Manchester, N.H. โ€“ Liberty House, a program of Catholic Charities NH, received a $40,000 grant from Swim With A Mission (SWAM) to empower more NH veterans to overcome adversity and rebuild stable, independent lives.

The grant will directly support Liberty Houseโ€™s wide range of support programs for New Hampshire veterans facing homelessness, post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injuries, financial hardship, and other challenges. This includes its transitional housing program, which features a 4-Step process guiding veterans to rediscover their purpose, achieve mental and physical wellness, secure jobs and gain permanent housing. Last year, Liberty House provided more than 5,270 nights of shelter, an 18% increase from the previous year, and helped 50% of residents gain meaningful employment.

The grant will also enable Ezra, Liberty Houseโ€™s service dog, to provide continued comfort and support for resident veterans. It will also help fund the programโ€™s community pantry, which distributed 40,063 items of food, clothing, and other basic necessities for veterans in the community over the past year.

โ€œWe are incredibly thankful to Swim with a Mission for their generous support of Liberty House and sharing in our commitment to strengthening the local veteran community,โ€ said Jeff Nelson, executive director of Liberty House. โ€œSupport like this is truly transformative โ€“ it equips us with essential tools and resources to help our veterans reclaim their lives in meaningful ways.โ€

โ€œLiberty House embodies what it means to honor Veterans by providing not only shelter but a pathway to independence and a brighter future,โ€ said Phil Taub, co-founder of Swim With A Mission. โ€œWe are proud to support their efforts to uplift Veterans and ensure they have the tools and resources needed to thrive.โ€
