Weather Patterns We’re Watching

The Christmas forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a chance of snow, turning to a mix of rain later in the day, and a high around 42 degrees.


Get Out!

Elevations for summits above 4,000 feet in Northern New Hampshire today: The summits will be hidden, with a chance of afternoon snow showers. Highs will be near 11 degrees, dropping to around 5 above at elevations over 5,000 feet. Expect northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph, and at higher elevations, west winds around 65 mph easing to about 55 mph later. Gusts could reach up to 115 mph. Snow chances are about 30 percent, with wind chills as low as 47 below.

Elevations between 2,500 and 4,000 feet in Northern New Hampshire today: Summits drifting in and out of the clouds with a chance of snow showers. Highs near 14 degrees, with west winds blowing at 20 to 30 mph and gusts reaching up to 70 mph. Snow chances are around 50 percent, and wind chills could drop as low as 29 below.
