Ainge re-signs Theis to 2 Year Deal

Bolstering the frontcourt was a must-do for Celtics general manager Danny Ainge, and coming to an agreement with forward Daniel Theis for at two-year $ 10 million deal helped ease the bleeding for big guys on the roster.

A lesser known name but versatile when accumulating minutes, Theis entered the NBA realm during the 2017 season, in which Boston signed him from the EuroLeague to help provide depth under the basket.

Before getting to the United States two years ago, Theis made a name for himself as a big time defensive presence, landing on the top 10 in blocks in two of his three seasons overseas in the EuroLeague. His current stats of 5.7 points a game and about 3.5 boards does not do justice in telling what type of player he really is. Increasing his 3-point percentage by nearly 8 percent (31 percent to almost 39 percent this past season) and shooting 54.5 percent from the field, he has executed the system head coach Brad Stevens runs and gives the bench an offensive weapon, and defensive matchup problems.
