Biggio gets second homer of the weekend in F-Cats win

Cavan Biggio

READING, PA โ€“ Cavan Biggio grabbed his second home run in as many nights to give the New Hampshire Fisher Cats the foundation they needed for a 4-2 victory on Sunday night.

The first homer of the evening though came from the hosting Reading Fightinโ€™ Phils as Zach Green took a first pitch from โ€˜Cats starter Jon Harris over the leftfield fence in the fourth, followed later in the inning by a Zach Coppola sac fly bringing Austin Bossart across the plate for Readingโ€™s second run.

Biggioโ€™s blast to left center in the sixth negated that advantage. He would cross the plate again in the eighth, with Bo Bichette also contributing his second run of the game in the eighth, as the Fisher Cats cruised to their second straight win against the Phils.

Jonathan Davis went 2-for-4 at the plate for New Hampshire while Biggio also added two walks to his homer.

Coppola collected two of Readingโ€™s six hits as Harris submitted a solid performance, allowing just four hits and a pair of walks before leaving after six.

The win would go to Dusty Issacs (2-0), after he recorded four outs immediately following Harrisโ€™ departure.

Edgar Garcia (0-1) was on the hook for the loss, giving up his first earned run in seven relief appearances this year for the Phils.

Garciaโ€™s outing squandered a strong start by Readingโ€™s Ranger Suarez. The Venezuelan native went seven innings in his fourth start of the year for Reading, with Biggioโ€™s home run and Bichetteโ€™s shortly before Biggioโ€™s home run coming as the only major blemishes on a quality showing.

New Hampshire continues their road trip on Monday with a trip to Binghamton, New York. There they will face Tim Tebow and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets.

Francisco Rios (0-1, 4.38 ERA) takes the mound for New Hampshire against a Rumble Pony starter not announced as of Sunday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
