MANCHESTER, NH – The Bookmobile is back!
Mayor Joyce Craig along with Manchester School District, (MSD), assistant superintendents Amy Allen and Jennifer Gillis; Manchester City Library head of children’s services Karyn Isleb; MSD Director of English Learner Instruction Wendy Perron; and Booked for Summer coordinator Kelly Jobel, officially kicked-off “Booked for Summer 2018” on July 6 and unveiled the district’s new bookmobile during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Livingston Park.
The purpose of the bookmobile is to promote literacy and learning throughout the summer. The van was generously donated by Granite State Plumbing & Heating with graphics wrapping by Sousa Signs.
The bookmobile will stop at select city parks, pools, and schools over the next five weeks, (July 9 through August 10 – see schedule below, or click here).
The bookmobile will be staffed by MSD educators, city librarians and other community leaders and volunteers. Each session will include read-a-louds and other activities and any child who attends will be given a book. Food will also be available, thanks to a partnership with Southern New Hampshire Services. Manchester children are welcome to attend any session.
More information about the bookmobile and “Booked for Summer 2018” can be found on the Booked for Summer website.
The five-week Bookmobile program will run two sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from July 9-Aug. 10. Morning schedule is 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.; Afternoon schedule is 1:30-3 p.m.
