Angela Bourassa, the Extended Learning Opportunity coordinator at Central High School, has been named the top in her field in the state of New Hampshire.Â
As Manchester School District’s schools opened their doors last month, the District also opened a new Welcome Center for families, located in the heart of the city.Â
Manchester School District has set a series of informational meetings for the schools directly impacted by upcoming facilities projects. These schools include Wilson, Beech Street and McDonough Elementary Schools as well as all four middle schools.Â
As a national finalist, Stankiewicz has already secured at least a $2,000 scholarship, however if named one of two national winners, she will receive a $10,000 award.Â
Tentative agreements must be ratified by union members and approved by the Board of School Committee and the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The School Board will vote on the tentative agreements at its upcoming meeting on November 27.
Mackenzie Verdiner, a rising senior at Manchester High School West, has been named the national GEAR UP Student of the Year.Â
The Board of School Committee on Monday night recognized more than 50 retiring District employees. Some of the employees have already completed their service, while others will finish up at the end of this school year.
With backing from Central’s administration and support from staff and community members, students organized and led the event from start to finish. The goal of the summit was to create an environment for students to feel empowered and encouraged to become more involved and to have their voices amplified. Throughout the event, students were challenged to utilize their problem-solving, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills to shape a supportive and safer environment within their school community.
Three architectural and engineering firms have been invited to submit proposals to assist Manchester School District with the long-term facilities planning process.Â
