Two Manchester brothers, known to be involved in alleged gang activity here were arrested in Nashua Aug. 27 after a shooting incident on Pratt Street in Nashua.
My high school campus ends within 50 feet of that park. I park my car at its perimeter. Students don’t feel safe and it doesn’t seem like the authorities are exerting a lot of power to fix this. It’s frustrating to a lot of people, not just the neighbors and it’s sad to see my community crumble.

State Police are looking for the owner of a pit bull which attacked and killed another dog during a hike Aug. 21 at Tuckerman’s Ravine, on Mt. Washington in northern NH.
A crowd of neighbors stood on the corner of Beech Street, which was blocked by a pair of police cruisers. Three women walked up to ask if anyone knew who the victim was. One of the women, who did not want to be interviewed, only said the woman she knows at that address often watches her grandchildren.
Sadly, when Veterans Park was seeing an influx of homeless and ‘crowds’, the city simply removed the benches at the entrance to the park. It does nothing to deter them; it simply makes them migrate to another park or place to hang out.
There are some black benches in need of fixing – or maybe replacing. As you can see by the photographs, they have been bent enough that there are rusty spots where the metal has been damaged.
If that is the case, then it has been working, as Bronstein Park has been this summer’s place to be – not so much for law-abiding citizens, but for people overdosing on drugs, and the police and rescue personnel responding to their urgent calls for service.
“I’d like to see the police clean things up here,” she said. “I have nothing against the cops. Maybe 90 percent of them are trying. But I see them come through here all the time, and yet nothing changes. They know what’s going on – drug dealers, prostitutes, and all the overdoses.”
Mayor Ted Gatsas has been called out by Ward 6 Alderman Garth Corriveau who, on behalf of his fellow aldermen, is questioning the mayor’s authority to restrict public access to Bronstein Park.
