Manchester resident Segun Olorunfemi considers his art as a way to pay homage to his rich Yoruba heritage, which he left behind in Nigeria almost two decades ago. The Yoruba people are an ethnic group who inhabit parts of Nigeria and other countries in West Africa.

After the last election, in 2024, I was on the other side of the classroom, and I wanted my students to understand that we can make the laws we live by, choose the injustices that we fight, and the rights that we have. These are all things that are the result of choices made by people. I think that our government would be a lot better if those choices going forward were made by people more like me.

Amid a spate of anti-trans legislation in the Statehouse this season was a bill that would have prevented transgender and gender nonconforming people in New Hampshire from freely participating in public life. It was vetoed by Gov. Ayotte Tuesday—a move being upheld by trans activists across the state.
