The NH Elder Abuse Unit, previously staffed by a prosecutor, victim-witness advocate, and program specialist, has seen a 71% increase in referrals over the last five years (from 758 to 1,295). The increase in referrals is attributable to several factors, including the increase in our older adult population, Attorney General John Formella said during a press conference on Aug. 21.

NH consumers who were tricked by TurboTax’s owner Intuit into paying for free tax services will begin receiving checks from a $141 million multistate settlement, announced in May 2022. Approximately 4.4 million consumers nationwide will receive checks in the mail from the multistate settlement.
