The past 10 years have been very fruitful for both dobro player Rob Ickes and guitarist Trey Hensley. Together, they’ve won a bunch of awards, put out a few albums and collaborated with some bonafide legends in the bluegrass, folk, blues and country genres. Musical collaboration can be a special thing when everything comes together seamlessly, and this duo is one of the many examples of this fact. On July 26, Ickes and Hensley are going to be performing at The Rex Theatre in Manchester. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and it promises to be an ideal experience for anyone who enjoys acoustic and string-based music.

Back on June 13, this act released a new album titled “Find What You Need,” and they have a bunch of shows happening around the New England region in support of it. This includes a stop at Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club in Portsmouth on July 21 with the music starting at 7pm. The upcoming show is part of the venue’s “Local Artist Series” that takes place on Monday nights.

Led by Joziah Longo on vocals, guitar and harmonica with lead guitarist and harmonica player Sharkey McEwen, multi-instrumentalists Tink Lloyd and RJ McCarty, bassist Bob Torsello and drummer Matthew Abourezk, the band has also been described as a hillbilly version of Pink Floyd due to their mix of psychedelic rock and Americana.

Matthew Logan Vasquez’s musical career has had a variety of facets. He’s the vocalist and guitarist for the San Diego indie rock act Delta Spirit and he’s also been a member of a couple supergroups, Middle Brother with Taylor Goldsmith from Dawes and John McCauley from Deer Tick, and Glorietta, which includes Adrian Quesada from Black Pumas, Kelsey Wilson from Wild Child, Noah Gunderson and Robert Blum. Along with this, he has a prolific solo career under his belt, and he’s currently on tour with a backing band. The expedition will be making a stop at The Press Room in Portsmouth on May 21.
