With no boys varsity team this year, the only vestiges of Manchester West High School’s once-great tennis program are seven varsity girls learning as they go.
Nearly two years removed from competing on the varsity court, the Derryfield School boys tennis team has shown no ill effects from the long layoff. The Cougars – competing with three first-year varsity players on their ladder – have clawed their way to a 5-0 start, outpacing opponents 41-4 in singles and doubles matches.
Despite a late scare, Manchester Central kicked off its softball season on Wednesday with a 6-4 road victory against Nashua South.
As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, student-athletes from around the Granite State once again take to the fields and courts of play this week. Among those competitors, standouts from Trinity High School are ready to leave their mark on the New Hampshire high school sports landscape.
The Cougars are once again on the prowl this spring. Following a one-year COVID-induced hiatus, Derryfield School student-athletes return to spring competition this week.
A year removed from a lost season, the Manchester Central High School spring athletes return to their respective fields of play this week, and once again, hope springs eternal.
