On Tuesday, September 10, when the polls in New Hampshire were open for primary voting, 1269 Cafe directed its usual lunch crowd toward another location while a taco truck and an ice cream truck sat in the back parking lot. The organization, which had operated out of a building on the corner of Merrimack and Union streets in Manchester for the the last four years, celebrated the completion of its upstairs transitional housing spaces by holding an open house and ribbon-cutting event.

In Colorado, some Libertarians in the state preferred Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the nominee, despite Kennedy having been defeated in the Libertarian primary in May. While there was no legal way to overthrow Oliver and install Kennedy as the presidential nominee, a plan was underway in the state to make this happen. The state party chair, Hannah Goodman, publicly endorsed Donald Trump while hoping that Oliver would lose ballot access.

The bills were part of an ongoing effort by the state government to target LGBT individuals living in New Hampshire. Similar laws were also proposed at the beginning of 2023; all failed to pass that year.

The June 1 football game between the Maine Mayhem and New Hampshire Rebellion started with an unusual twist: a Rebellion interception led to points by Mayhem. An interception at 12:15 in the first quarter by Cassie Healy led to Rebellion having the ball backed up close to their own end zone. A running play went nowhere, leading to a Maine safety.

It was a game of firsts for both teams. Both the Ambush and Rebellion had players playing their first game. Both head coaches for each team was coaching their first game for their team. For the Rebellion, a crowd filtered in, many of whom stayed until the game ended. It was also the first Rebellion game in which a camera drone hovered overhead, recording the action between the two teams. Interest in the team had increased since last year, when the Rebellion won their home opener with almost no crowd in attendance.

A typical day for Ashleigh Nagy, a wide receiver and linebacker for the New Hampshire Rebellion, is to wake up at four in the morning every day for her job as a breakfast cook at Ginger and Clove in North Hampton. Though she is unable to attend Sunday morning practices, she is a regular at the late evening practices which have been taking place at Saint Anselm College.

Members of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen received public comments twice on Tuesday concerning the city’s budget in addition to the usual comments received at 7 p.m. This was the first public meeting of the Board since Manchester’s Director of Housing Stability, Adrienne Beloin, reached a settlement agreement with the city. Among the topics covered were public school budgets, the city’s homelessness crisis, and the ongoing situation in Gaza.

Hatred of transgender people, however, has taken a dark and unusual turn, one which strongly resembles the Nazi Party’s hatred of Jews. This particular hatred has become so strong, so virulent in recent years that legislatures across the country are passing any kind of law they can to take away any kind of right they think of from transgender individuals. The goal of this hatred, in the words of 2023 CPAC speaker Michael Knowles is: “to eradicate transgenderism.”
