This is the second year that Feed the Children has selected Manchester as one of eight communities to receive the items.
The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, recently received a $75,000 Healthy Food Fund Grant from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation aimed at increasing access to fresh, nutritious food to those in need in New Hampshire.
Lunches will be delivered and distributed to employees of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other federal agencies as needed. Additionally, workers will be able to take home boxed breakfasts and lunches.
Participating schools in partnership with NH Food Band, NH Interscholastic Athletic Association, and WMUR, collected enough to provide more than 76,000 meals to local families in need.
The Preventative Food Pantry helps patients with chronic medical conditions obtain wholesome foods and nutrition counseling in an effort to improve their overall health.
Sponsorship and player registration is now open for the event, which will take place on September 10 at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford.
The statewide campaign features cans of “nothing,” representing the 10 percent of residents, including 13 percent of children, who are “food insecure.” Customers are encouraged to purchase cans of “nothing” for $5 at locations across the state throughout April and May.
As part of its Recipe for Success programming, the New Hampshire Food Bank hosted “Beef and Veal in the Classroom,” which included more than 40 students from around the state.
For the second year in a row during November and December 2017, E. & J. Gallo Winery committed to donate 50 cents to the New Hampshire Food Bank for every bottle of Carnivor, DaVinci, William Hill and Whitehaven products sold at all NH retail liquor and win outlets,
