Paid Summer Internships Connect New Hampshire Youth to Career Building Opportunities
NEW HAMPSHIRE – Bank of America invites New Hampshire high school juniors and seniors to apply now for the 2025 Bank of America Student Leaders® program. The 2025 application is open through January 15, 2025. The program is part of the bank’s investment in youth and young adults – helping them obtain work and leadership experience, while making a difference in their communities.
The Student Leaders program, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, recognizes 300 community-focused juniors and seniors from across the U.S. annually. Since 2004, Student Leaders has engaged more than 4,500 students and invested $42 million in more than 500 local nonprofits as a critical part of the bank’s long-standing effort to build pathways to economic mobility across nearly 100 markets.
The New Hampshire-based Student Leaders will engage in an eight-week paid internship and participate in programming that includes a collaborative, mentor-focused project working closely with local New Hampshire nonprofits. In addition, they will learn the vital role nonprofits play in advancing community health and the importance of public-private partnerships to drive social change while building financial acumen.
Last summer, Nashua High School South Student Tara Kurup and Manchester Memorial High School Student Brandon Nyugen were selected for the Bank of America Student Leaders Program; each received an experiential internship with local nonprofit organizations YMCA of Greater Nashua and the Nashua Police Athletic League respectively, where they worked on projects such as producing communication and marketing collateral and learning the fundamentals of operating a federally qualified health center.
Without access to career skills-building opportunities like the Student Leaders program, many young people may be left behind from a fast-changing job market, leading to higher rates of youth unemployment. As part of its commitment to workforce development as a pathway to economic mobility, Bank of America is connecting teens and young adults to paid jobs and internships across New Hampshire through additional programs like America’s Youth Teenage Unemployment Reduction Network (MY TURN) Youth Employment Program, the International Institute of New England – Manchester’s Career Pathways for Refugees and Immigrants, NH JAG Resiliency Skills and Career Pathways Education, and University of New Hampshire at Manchester workforce development and education initiatives.
“The Student Leaders Program is a dual-purpose initiative that provides a rich experience for local high school students to make a difference in their community, while supporting our nonprofit partners,” said Ken Sheldon, President of Bank of America New Hampshire. “Student Leaders, and other workforce development programs that Bank of America supports in New Hampshire, such as MY TURN New Hampshire’s Summer Youth Employment Program, provide an important pathway to economic mobility for young people.”
