June Trisciani: At-Large Aldermanic candidate

June Trisiciani has announced her candidacy for At-Large Alderman.

Why should someone vote for you? (i.e. – what’s your “elevator pitch” when talking to voters?)

I’m running for Alderman At-Large to make Manchester a city that works for everyone. With a track record of results, I fight for safe streets, modern infrastructure, affordable housing, and strong schools. I’ve served before and know how to turn ideas into action. My priority is practical solutions, accountability, and delivering outcomes that truly improve residents’ lives—not politics.

If elected/re-elected, what steps would you endorse to address the issue of homelessness in the city?

I believe addressing homelessness requires a range of practical, coordinated solutions—there is no single answer. This includes expanding shelters and supportive housing, connecting people to essential services, and supporting programs that help residents secure stable, affordable housing. I will work with all stakeholders to tackle both immediate needs and the root causes of homelessness. By combining innovative approaches, flexible programs, and partnerships across sectors, we can keep people safe while giving them real pathways to long-term stability.

If elected/re-elected, what steps would you endorse to address the issue of housing costs?

One of the top issues facing Manchester is housing. Without enough safe, affordable options, families struggle, workers can’t live near their jobs, and seniors are pushed out of neighborhoods they’ve called home for decades. Housing impacts every other priority — our economy, public safety, and our schools.

I will address this by continuing the work I’ve done as Planning Board Chair, Zoning Board member, and Chair of the Zoning Ordinance Steering Committee. I have worked with stakeholders to rewrite our Zoning Ordinances, making them clearer, easier to navigate, and responsive to today’s housing

needs. By cutting red tape, we can bring responsible projects online more quickly while preserving neighborhood character.

I continue to champion policies that promote a diverse mix of housing options, encourage the rehabilitation of vacant properties, and protect long-term affordability. To meet the scale of our housing needs, we must also pursue innovative strategies—such as funding our Affordable Housing Trust through strong public-private partnerships.

Manchester needs practical solutions and steady, proven leadership to meet this challenge. With my experience, proven ability to get results, and collaborative approach, I will make housing a top priority—because strong neighborhoods and a stable housing market are the foundation of a thriving city.

If elected/re-elected, what steps would you endorse to address the issue of attracting and retaining quality city employees?

Attracting and retaining quality city employees must be a top priority, because our city’s success depends on a skilled, dedicated workforce. From public safety to infrastructure to our schools, the work of city employees directly shapes Manchester’s future.

I will support competitive pay and benefits that reflect the value of their service, while also prioritizing professional development, training, and clear pathways for advancement so employees can build long-term careers here.

Equally important, we must create a workplace culture that values and respects every employee. That means ensuring city policies are efficient, transparent, and designed to reduce red tape—so staff can focus on delivering excellent service rather than navigating unnecessary barriers.

Strong, committed teams are the foundation of a well-functioning government. I will work to make Manchester an employer of choice—where talented professionals are proud to serve, know they are supported, and are empowered to do their best work for our community.

What is your perspective on the city’s roads, transit system and parking? If you believe improvement is needed, how would you accomplish that?

The ability of all residents to navigate our city safely and efficiently is vital to quality of life, economic growth, and community mobility—and improvement is needed. I will push for a strategic plan that prioritizes safe roads for all users, including drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Expanding reliable, accessible public transit is also essential, providing residents with practical alternatives and connecting people to jobs, schools, and services.

As I have in the past, I will work collaboratively with city departments and community stakeholders to ensure investments are strategic, cost-effective, and responsive to long-term needs. Data-driven planning ensures every dollar is used effectively.

By taking a comprehensive and coordinated approach, we can build a transportation system that is safe, efficient, and supports Manchester’s continued growth and livability.

What is your opinion on the city’s parks, library and entertainment offerings/public events? If improvement is needed, what should be done?

Manchester is fortunate to have a wealth of parks, a strong public library, and a variety of public, privately operated, and community-supported events that enrich our city and bring neighbors together for recreation, learning, and connection.

I support investing in well-maintained parks, modern library resources, and a diverse calendar of public events that are accessible and engaging for everyone. We should continue building strong partnerships with local organizations, museums, schools, and businesses to expand programming, ensure inclusivity, and keep our public spaces vibrant year-round.

By prioritizing these investments and partnerships, we strengthen both our amenities and the sense of community that makes Manchester a great place to live, work, and play.

What is your opinion on the city’s policies regarding property taxes and other fees (i.e. – pet licenses, parking meters, etc.)

Manchester needs fair, transparent fees that don’t overburden residents while ensuring the city can fund essential services. I will respect the tax cap, use growth in our tax base to fund essential services, and work with representatives at the state level to prevent shifting costs on to residents.

What are your thoughts on the city’s business climate and how would you attract more businesses to come to Manchester or convince more people to start businesses in Manchester?

Manchester must cultivate a business-friendly environment where companies of all sizes can start, grow, and thrive. As a small-business owner, I understand firsthand the challenges of launching and expanding a business. During my previous term as Alderman At-Large, I championed the revival and expansion of the Economic Development Office to provide practical guidance and resources for local businesses. I will continue partnering with business groups, community organizations, and entrepreneurs to attract investment, support startups, and make Manchester a smart, welcoming place to do business. By combining strategic support with fiscal responsibility and efficient city policies, we can strengthen our local economy, create opportunities, and ensure growth benefits all residents.

What is your opinion of the state of education in Manchester and what should the relationship be between the Board of School Committee and Board of Mayor and Aldermen?

Education is one of Manchester’s highest priorities. While our schools have many strengths, there is always room to grow—whether it’s supporting teachers, maintaining safe and modern facilities, or expanding programs that meet the needs of every student. I believe the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the Board of School Committee must work collaboratively, balancing respect for the School Committee’s professional expertise with accountability and responsible funding. Strong collaboration, clear roles, and thoughtful governance are essential to building a system where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Anything else you’d like to add not mentioned here and what is the best way voters can reach you if they have more questions?

I have a proven track record of serving Manchester, including roles on the Heritage Commission, as Chair of the Planning Board, member of the Zoning Board, Chair of the Zoning Ordinance Steering Committee, and as Alderman At-Large. My experience spans multiple sectors—as a high school teacher, corporate executive, small business owner, and through work in mission-driven organizations—giving me a well-rounded perspective on the challenges our city faces. I am committed to practical, results-driven leadership that improves life in Manchester—from safe streets and strong schools to affordable housing and essential community services.
