CONCORD, NH – The State Fire Marshal’s Office announced Monday it made an arrest in connection to a fire Sunday that damaged part of a building in the NHDOT’s Stickney Avenue complex in Concord.
Concord Fire Department members arrived at about 10:20 p.m. to find an exterior fire that was extending into the building through the eves at 11 Stickney Avenue, and a second fire by the Concord Holiday Inn involving a small brush area. The investigation determined fires were intentionally set at both locations. The fire caused damage to the exterior of the building and minimal damage to the interior at 11 Stickney Ave.
As a result of the investigation, Steven Rowell, 18, of 371 Route 4 in Danbury, was arrested and charged with two counts of arson (1 Felony B level and 1 Misdemeanor A level), falsifying physical evidence (a Felony B) and two counts of breach of bail (from previous unrelated charges).
Rowell was held with no bail at the Merrimack County jail and was scheduled for a hearing March 14 in 6th Circuit Court in Concord.
There was minor water damage inside the building. No DOT equipment was stored inside, officials said.
