
MANCHESTER, NH โ Ayuen Leek, 18,ย was charged with robbery and second-degree assault after scuffling with a man whose wallet he allegedly stole.
Officer Michael DeJoy responded to N & K Market, 374 Pearl St., on April 7 at about 9 p.m.ย to investigate a reported robbery that resulted in the injury of a customer, who was leaving the store with a handful of lottery tickets.
The customer, Chris Cook, 47, told police a man, later identified as Leek, approached him and asked him if he wanted to purchase marijuana. Cook told policeย he reached for his wallet to get out someย money when Leekย allegedly grabbed the wallet and cash andย fled the scene on foot.
Cook ran after Leek,ย but lost sight of him. He located him a short time later in front of a Pearl Street residenceย westย of the store. Leek was allegedly hiding in between two recycling barrels.
A brief struggle ensued as Cook attempted to pull Leek from his hiding place. At some point Cook told police he was struck in the head by Leek with an unknown object and wasย โseeing stars.” The strike to his head caused a cutย and severe bleeding. However, he was able to retrieveย his wallet before Leek fled the scene for a second time.
Responding officers determined Leek ran into an apartment behind the store at 374 Pearl St.ย Officer Ryan Brandreth and police dog partnerย Colt located Leek inside of a bedroom. He was scheduled to appear inย 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on April 8.ย Cook was treated on scene by AMR for a non-life threateningย injury.
