MANCHESTER, NH – Four people are displaced after a fire gutted their Merrimack Street residence Tuesday morning.

Just after 9 a.m. companies were dispatched for a reported building fire. Crews arriving first reported heavy fire coming from the first floor and extending to the  second floor and attic. Car 1 arrived on scene, established command, and declared a working  fire.

First alarm companies coordinated an aggressive attack on the fire, knocking it down while searches for occupants were conducted on all floors and holes were cut in the roof for  ventilation. Searches were negative and all residents managed to get out of the building prior  to the fire departments arrival.

One resident received minor injuries but refused patient care  at the scene.

The fire was brought under control at 9:45 a.m. The home suffered heavy fire  damage throughout and is uninhabitable. Four residents, two adults and two juveniles, were  displaced. Red Cross was brought in to assist the family.
