Sarah Georges: Ward 3 School Comittee candidate

Sarah Georges, Ward 3 school committee candidate.

Occipation: I am the Assistant Director to the Youth Program of Victory Women of Vision and the Community Organizer for AbleNH.

Education/Background: A proud graduate of Manchester Central High School.

How long have you lived in Manchester? Born and raised here

Hobbies/Fun Fact about you/other biographical info: I love to be with my family and my friends. You can put my siblings and me or even my best friends in an empty room, and we will have the time of our lives. I love to sing and dance. Music has always played a big part in my life. Most mornings, you can find me walking down Elm Street singing at the top of my lungs, and Elm Street is my big stage. Sometimes you can find me down by the river, music blasting, and just dancing as if no one is watching. I also love to binge-watch TV shows and movies. From Love is Blind, Real Housewives, Young Rich and African, to every K-drama on Netflix. I am Netflix’s biggest fan.

Why should someone vote for you?

I believe in our kids, I believe in our teachers. I know when students and teachers are supported, how it changes things for the better, and for themselves. For the past five years, that is what I have been doing. With the Victory Women of Vision, I have been that support they need in and out of the classroom. For the past five years, I have had the honor to work with kids from all the public schools, and I know the potential and the talents that run through the halls of our public schools.

I want to give every kid the support that they need to succeed, not just in school but in life as well. So please know that I’m running for every kid I mentor through the school year and the summer. I am running for all the kids at the Boys and Girls Club who are just amazing. I am running for all the parents who trust me to help their children in whatever they need. I am running for all the teachers that I had and the teachers I get to work with. I am running because I want a better future for our kids, and I won’t stop until that happens.

How many public high schools should there be in Manchester, where should they be and should any of them be magnet schools?

The four high schools that we have now are legendary, but they can be better. I believe that they are perfect where they stand now, but we can fix them up to make them even better for our kids and the future.

Should all public high schools in Manchester offer some sort of vocational training or should vocational classes by centralized at the current Manchester School of Technology campus?

Yes! We should be giving our kids the opportunities to have those types of training and skills in all our high schools. As we know, not every kid will be able to go to college or University. So why not give them a chance to work with their hands and learn a trade in school? It will also give them more reasons to go to and stay in school. As they graduate with their high school diploma and certifications, they can immediately start practicing their trade and join the workforce right here in NH.

What is your opinion on the first phase of the Manchester School District’s facilities plan? (finishing fifth grade expansions at the middle schools/new Beech Street Elementary)

Well, first I have to say I was not and still am not the biggest fan of 5th grade in the middle schools. I do feel like 5th grade is still too young to be in middle school. BUT our Schools need to be fixed up. I remember playing basketball in 5th grade; it was Webster vs. Beech Street. We lost to Beech, but I remember how small the gym was. I remember having to go to summer school there and how hot the classroom was in the summer. It has been over 15 years now, and it is still the same. We can’t keep on going like this is as if it’s okay. Our kids deserve a better learning environment.

What is your opinion of Education Freedom Accounts?

I am not for any program that takes money out of our public school system!

How can the Manchester School District attract and retain talented staff?

PAY OUR TEACHERS! Since I was a kid, I have known a lot of teachers to have two jobs. You can find a lot of them at the Puritan Backroom working after school and on weekends. They have two jobs, kids of their own, a house to clean, bills to pay, and loved ones to take care of, and they still show up bright-eyed with smiles on their faces. They do their best to show up every day. The School District needs to show up for them. They need to listen and understand the needs of our teachers. Our teachers work in the system that the school district set up for them. Why not work with them to make our schools better? When our teacher and staff are valued, they stay.

What are your thoughts on the Manchester School District’s curricula?

It can be better. We should not be teaching some generic curricula. Allowing our teachers to put creativity and passion into their lesson plans will help keep their students engaged with the lessons, but also get the teachers excited to teach.

What are your thoughts on school budget deliberations in 2026?

I would like to talk about it more. Growing up, I watched my mom and my aunts make something out of nothing. It’s a skill you have when you have little. I know how to work with a budget and get things done because of them. I understand that when it comes to our schools. People are scared that their taxes will go up. But I would ask people to think about it differently. For everyone who has graduated from public school or has kids, nieces or nephews, or even grandchildren. Who invested in your education? How important was it for you to go to school and get your education? How important is it for your kids and your generation that comes after you to have a proper education? That is what we are all working for now. In these moments, we have a duty to pay it forward. When our kids thrive, we all thrive, because they will be the next to invest in our city, so let’s invest in them now.

Anything else you’d like to add not mentioned here and what is the best way voters can reach you if they have more questions?

Thank you all for your time! know win or lose, I will continue to fight for our children’s futures. Please vote for me on Nov. 4th. If you would like to talk, please give me a call or a text at 603-715-4266. Email Georgessarah14@yahoo.com
