The New Hampshire Children’s System of Care (CSoC) is accepting youth submissions for the seventh annual Magnify Voices Expressive Art Contest. Now through April 20, New Hampshire students in fifth through 12th grade are encouraged to submit creative work reflecting their experiences with and connections to mental health. Magnify Voices is a CSoC initiative to raise awareness, erase stigma and effect positive change for youth mental health in New Hampshire.

One of the many examples of this around New Hampshire is one that’s being put on by the Boston-based Americana act Adam Ezra Group. They’re going to be taking the stage at Tupelo Music Hall with two shows, one happening at 5:30 p.m. (dinner and a show) for the folks who already have plans for later in the evening, and another happening at 8:30 p.m. for the people who are looking to have a blast when the ball drops. Albany, New York act Sirsy are going to be opening up both installments, so make sure to arrive in a prompt manner regardless of which show you attend.

Author and newsman Joe McQuaid has plunged into this high-stakes endeavor at least twice – the first time in 2021 when he wrote a book for his family about his late wife Signe Anderson McQuaid, and then last year when he published “War Fronts Home Fires: A WWII correspondent’s remarkable coverage, his wife’s Indomitable spirit,” (IngramSpark, 2023). This book is about his war-correspondent father, Bernard John “B.J.” McQuaid, and his mother, Margaret “Peg” Griffin McQuaid, who did the heavy lifting back home in Candia with their children.

This trio has been putting out records since the late 2010s, with their latest being the “Shine” EP that came out back on December 13. On December 28, they’re going to be celebrating its release at The Shaskeen starting at 9 p.m. with Boston punks Already Dead, local garage rockers The Doldrums, and hardcore rippers TFR rounding out the bill.
