“The Goat flew into the Ram with such force it knocked it to the ground and stomped it completely. And they’re was no one to stop the Goat or help the Ram that was powerless to defeat it…” Daniel 8: 7, 8
A friend sent me the above quote which he saw making the rounds on Facebook. We got a laugh out of it.
After seeing the Patriots win it all 17 years ago today against all odds, defeating the Rams, what happens today won’t much matter anyway. After 911 our nation was unified and in love with the underdog Patriots. The country was celebrating Patriotism and was trying hard to regain its step after what seemed like the end of everything we considered normal. The team from New England would begin their dynasty and win three times in just four years. They just kept on rolling for the next 14 years, unfazed by changes of any kind. Stock market crash, political clash, Obama, Hillary, Bernie and Trump, there was nothing to stop the Goat!
It is likely the now-hated Patriots will win anyway. I’m not as naive as I once was. Clearly there has been some cheating along the way but, for the most part, all teams cheat. The Patriots are only singled out because of their success. Deflate-gate was so over blown and most likely a payback for some other reason.
I’ve gotta say the people opposed to Brady/Belichick have really missed the best combination professional sports have produced, at least in our country.
So let the games begin – all the games within the biggest game of all! To the best team goes the spoils. I love New England sports teams and have never seen this much success in so little time. And I will always remember Tom, the Goat that no one could stop. And all were found “powerless to defeat him.”
