THE SOAPBOX

Stand up. Speak up. It’s Your Turn.
Joe Kelly Levasseur embodies everything wrong with Manchester politics: a parasitic presence draining taxpayer dollars and bullying anyone standing in his way. As his house of cards collapses, he attempts to gaslight our city into believing his resignation as chairman of the board of mayor and aldermen represented some noble stand.
He did not just resign; he fled. To evade facing a bipartisan vote to remove him as chairman, with even his closest allies abandoning him, Levasseur tucked tail and ran. Alderman Chris Morgan saw through the charade immediately, stating, “Joe Kelly Levasseur has a problem with the truth. Not one part of his statement is accurate.” He knew he had lost support, so he did what he does best. He spun a web of deception and disappeared before accountability came knocking.
This self-proclaimed fiscal conservative has become Manchester’s most expensive alderman in history. His toxic behavior triggered a $57,000 taxpayer-funded payout to settle an HR nightmare involving Housing Director Adrienne Beloin. Your money, cleaning up his mess. While voting against city budgets, he happily lined his own pockets with taxpayer-funded health insurance. The hypocrisy would be impressive if it were not so costly.
The pattern runs deeper. The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office investigation exposed his false allegations against Manchester police as “unfounded” and “untruthful,” wasting state resources and taxpayer dollars. He stalled their investigation for four months, dragging out the process and running up costs. Then came the parking ticket fiasco. He sued the Manchester Police Department over a $50 ticket while parking in handicapped spots with his aldermanic card. Laws, it seems, exist only for others.
For years, Manchester Public Access Television handed him and Will Infantine a microphone to harass and intimidate public servants and Manchester residents alike. MPAT’s board watched silently as their platform became a weapon against the very people it should serve. Their inaction made them complicit in the abuse.
Morgan delivered the definitive verdict on Levasseur’s character: “It is crucial for the citizens of Manchester to understand that, in my view, he is a deceiver and a manipulator; not for the people, as he claims, but out for himself.” Levasseur chaired committees while city infrastructure crumbled. He held power while offering no solutions, too lazy even to draft his own budget. We have watched as he weaseled his way out of accountability at every turn.
Levasseur’s negative financial impact on our city stretches far beyond the Beloin settlement: legal fees for frivolous lawsuits, investigative costs for false allegations, and the endless chaos that distracts from actual governance. Havenโt we paid enough for his ego?
The Board of Aldermen must censure him. The future chairman must strip his committee assignments and demonstrate that abuse of power carries consequences. The MPAT board must revoke broadcasting privileges for Levasseur and Infantine immediately.
Joe Kelly Levasseur represents pure liability: a con artist who drained resources, attacked public servants, and created chaos while contributing nothing of value. As Morgan rightly concluded, “Manchester deserves better.” Vote him out. Reclaim your city. End the circus.
