‘Unattended candle’ sparks Grove Street fire, 1 person injured

MANCHESTER, NH โ€“  A fire sparked by an unattended candle gutted a Grove Street residence Saturday.

Manchester Fire dispatch received a call for a reported building fire just before 5 p.m. Engine 7 reported heavy fire from the  rear of the building extending into the first and second floors. Crews deployed  multiple hose lines for an aggressive interior attack on the fire, containing it to a single alarm. 

The residence was searched and a vent hole was cut in the roof allowing heavy fire to escape, assisting with extinguishment. One occupant of the residence was home at the time of the fire, they were assessed on scene by AMR and transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
