Woman says she was stabbed, burned, kicked, punched and choked by boyfriend

MANCHESTER, NH โ€” Manchester Police responded to 76 Schiller Street at 8:55 p.m. on May 2ย for the report of aย domestic assault involving a man with a knife.

Upon arrival, officers located a woman, 29,ย outside the residenceย who told police her boyfriend, Eric Potvin, 30, of Manchester, had physically assaulted her with a knife and a lit cigarette, and also punched, choked and kicked her.

According to the woman the incident escalated after aย verbal and physical confrontation with Potvin prior to police arrival. It started after she ย observed Potvin using drugsย inside of the home. She says she threatened to leave with their child, who was presentย during the incident.

She told police Potvin responded by threatening her with a knife, causing several non-life threateningย lacerations on her arm. He then allegedly threw her on the ground and began chokingย her.

The victim said Potvin also burned her several times with the end of a cigarette, punched herย repeatedly and kicked her during the assault, all while threatening to harm himself.

Bedford Policeย officers located and arrested Potvin at 2:20 a.m. on May 3 on Quincy Drive, in Bedford. Potvin was inย possession of a knife at the time of his arrest. The victim was transported to a local hospital andย treated for her injuries.

Potvin appeared in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on Tuesday. He was charged with criminal threatening; first-degree assault; 5 counts second-degree assault; Simple assault (domestic); convicted felon; and preventative detention.
