Fugitive in Nashua murder case captured Monday night in Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ A Nashua man wanted by U.S. Marshals in connection with a murder case was arrested in Manchester late Monday night.

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster and Nashua Police Chief Andrew Lavoie announce that Stephan Peno, 20, was arrested and charged May 4 with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery and falsifying physical evidence for his alleged involvement in events leading to the March 12, 2015 death of Benjamin Marcum in Nashua.

Jonathan Goff was previously arrested on March 14, 2015, and charged with second-degree murder for causing Marcumโ€™s death by stabbing. He isย being held without bail as the investigation continues.

Penoโ€™s arraignment was set forย May 5, 2015, at the 9th Circuit Court โ€“ District Division Court in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Police allegedย Goff and Peno robbed Marcum before he was fatally stabbed byย Goff on a walking path near Marcumโ€™s residence in downtown Nashua. According to Nashua Patch,ย Peno has had previous dealings with police,ย includingย assault and robbery charges in 2014.

On April 15ย U.S. Marshals โ€“ New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Forceย joined the manhunt for Peno, who was considered a fugitive from justice by Nashua Police Department.

On April 14,ย NH Attorney General Joseph Foster issued a warrant for Penoโ€™s arrest in connection with the stabbing death ofย Marcum.

The Nashua Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Benjamin Marcumโ€™s death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Nashua Police Department at (603) 594-3500 and ask for detectives.
