“The time for talk is over. Its time to open our doors.”
The conversation around heroin addiction and recovery will continue at a public meeting concerning Hope for NH Recovery’s proposed Manchester Recovery Center on May 14 at 6 p.m. at 161 S. Beech St. in Manchester.
Together, with Hope for NH Recovery, a coalition of community organizations are currently embarking on the creation of a blueprint for action based on a comprehensive approach to environmental strategies, prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery from substance use disorders in the Greater Manchester Region.
Hope for NH Recovery’s five-year plan calls for two peer-based recovery community centers, in Manchester and Portsmouth, with additional regional sites to follow in each of the state’s 13 public health network regions to help those in recovery from addiction.
“No community is immune. No tragedy is mundane. No small-minded gesture will disable what lays in our path. Alcoholism and drug addiction destroys all kinds of relationships. I hope we have not gone too far. I hope you will help us as we seek to stem the tide.”
