City and state government officials and veterans took turns giving speeches honoring veterans—their words at times lost to the meek microphone battling valiantly with the wind and construction— to a modestly sizable crowd. Manchester’s West High School band played the Star-Spangled Banner at the beginning of the ceremony and Taps at the end. A Girl Scout troop led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. A local priest offered a prayer to open the ceremony and a benediction to close.

Dropped off at an abandoned baseball clubhouse on a scorching hot day clueless on what to do and where to go. Cigarette butts and trash littering the potential beauty this place can offer. Blindlessly wandering around the building, soon to follow a purple-haired lady inside who I had recognized from before, just to see how the place was littered in scrap and timeless relics dating back to 30 years ago.
At some point during her recent week-long summer camp program at NH Audubon, Little Bean had mastered the art of the back bend move. That’s the gymnastic move where you bend over backward, down to your hands and flip your whole body back.Â
Thanks to some finagling, phone calls and emails sent to the proper places, Manchester Ink Link Kid Reporter Little Bean landed a back stage tour of Cirque du Soleil’s latest show at SNHU Arena. Called OVO, or Portuguese for egg, our tour guide proudly let us know that this was the only Cirque du Soleil show about bugs!
As we near the end of our project, I feel excited. I can’t wait to see our mural finished, but I know this journey is coming to an end. I will treasure the lessons I have learned, and the memories we have created together as teammates. This internship has been more than just a job. This journey hasn’t been easy, especially with the hot weather, rainy days and cold days. We did a lot of things to get where we are today.Â

I was recently invited to listen in on and watch an early rehearsal of the Welcome to the Club show, performed by the NH Jazz Orchestra. Rehearsals were held at the Manchester Community Music School, the place where I take ukulele lessons.
