Friends, activists and others looking to honor the teachings and birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. gathered at Manchester Memorial High School on Monday for the 44th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Community Celebration.
Republican leadership in New Hampshire, including the Governor, must decide whether it is appropriate for someone who has expressed support for segregating students for any reason to be the leading voice on education in the State House. That is not a rhetorical question. It goes to the heart of what public education is meant to be.
The 44th Annual MLK Jr. Community Celebration will take place Jan. 19 at Memorial High School, 1 Crusader Way. The event, organized annually by the Martin Luther King Jr. Coalition, is a day-long event, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Monday, January 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Currier invites the public to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with free programming at the museum. Visitors can join curator-led tours focused on diverse artists represented in the Currier collection; enjoy collaborative art-making activities, including paper bead creations inspired by the work of Sanaa Gateja; and participate in responsive exercises rooted in the teachings of Dr. King.
When asked if they minded not sleeping-in on a school holiday, both girls considered the question as they continued to dab paintbrushes into the colors of countries that make the world a little smaller for fellow students.
Today, on this 25th Annual MLK Day of Service, Americans across the country will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by rolling up their sleeves and making a difference in their communities through volunteerism and service.

For two hours Monday afternoon the focus was on the content of Manchester’s character. And while there’s always room for improvement, the vibe inside Temple Adath Yeshurun yesterday was bold, resilient, forthright, fearless and unified.
