I founded the New Hampshire Center for Public Interest Journalism to publish InDepthNH.org online because New Hampshire is in the midst of a news emergency, as is much of the country. If you don’t believe me, pick up your local newspaper or watch the local newscast. If you’re satisfied, then you probably don’t remember a decade ago when there were twice as many reporters working in New Hampshire in a competitive news environment with a hopping statehouse press room.

The NH Fish and Game Department and Praxair/TAFA Inc. are seeking volunteers to help restore habitat for the endangered Karner blue butterfly on Saturday June 4, 2016, from 9 a.m. – noon in Concord. Volunteers will plant wild blue lupine (Lupinus perenis), the sole food source for the caterpillars.

The City of Manchester announced a groundbreaking “Safe Station” initiative and an expansion of the Granite United Way’s 2-1-1NH service. Safe Station will utilize the ten 24/7/365 fire houses throughout the city and will serve as a designated safe environment for individuals seeking assistance. It is a starting point for drug/substance users who may not know where to begin the treatment and recovery process.
