On Wednesday, Oct. 20, employees for the General Electric (GE) Aviation Company in Hooksett organized a demonstration outside the workplace to protest a GE corporate mandate that all employees must receive a COVID-19 vaccine, or potentially lose their jobs.
As you know, my previous life companion, Lucy, died a little over a year ago and is buried in the cabin’s backyard. Lucy, who happened to have manifested in dog form, was also smarter, more insightful and attractive than I. She was funnier, too. You brought her into my life for eight-and-a-half wonderful years, and I bear you no ill will for taking her away. Still . . . I miss her intensely and painfully every day. Which leads to this third letter in three years.
This Red Sox team is a fun group to watch. And, like it or not, they have a little bit of the same affable stupidity as the 2004 Idiots. And Alex Cora’s story of redemption is a sneaky subplot.

It is with great pleasure that I endorse Ms. Karen Soule for the Ward 3 seat on the Manchester Board of School Committee.
At the end of September, the Antiwork subreddit passed 500,000 users and has since gained close to 40,000 more. At the time of writing, the Antiwork discord channel boasts close to 600 users. For various reasons, people have gravitated to the movement, even if to gripe about conditions at their job they may not like.
Readers of this column are an astute and empowered lot. It turns out that many of you took me seriously when I promised, in the last installment, that I would have some suggestions for what New Hampshire ratepayers could do in the face of looming increases to their electric bills.
On Tuesday, I had the privilege of interviewing one of my good friends and my old college roommate, Todd Angilly—who some of you might know as The Boston Bruins’ national anthem singer—for a feature-profile I was assigned to write for a magazine in Boston.
What can we do about these dismal developments? That’s the subject of a future column but – spoiler alert – there are no easy answers and those who peddle such answers are mistaken. In the meantime, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
