Our shift began on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. where I attended roll call. Everyone was dressed and on time as the Captain reviewed everyone’s coverage area for the second shift which ends at 11 p.m. They all examined their AR-15s and tested their tasers before getting the keys to their assigned vehicle.

As a fan of Boston sports teams, and also a guy who likes studying the Bible, for the last couple of months or more I’ve been focused on comparisons between “Joseph Prince of Egypt” and Thomas the “GOAT” of New England. Ward 2 Alderman Will Stewart and Department of Public Works staff have invited the neighborhood to discuss the pilot project a meeting this evening 6 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, (235 Myrtle St.). Between tonight’s meeting and a second meeting to collect public feedback on the change, the neighborhood should consider supporting a fully-protected bike lane along Maple Street and eventually Beech Street.
This dangerous provision must be stopped. If allowed to be included, it would be a blatant power grab and a direct attack on every municipality’s right to direct its own future. It nullifies the vote of the people.
