They gave their lives for their country, so we in Manchester honor them with bronze plaques in squares that bear their names. But even as we approach Veterans Day – when the tablets erected in their memory are bedecked with flags – these monuments can be easily overlooked. If we aren’t careful, the men they honor may also be forgotten, and the fallen sons of our city might be lost in the mists of history.
Hearthstone is a digital collectible card game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment in response to the ever-popular physical card game Magic: The Gathering. Originally subtitled Heroes of Warcraft, Hearthstone builds upon the existing lore of the Warcraft series by using the same elements, character names, and voice lines. In year 6 you will often find that newer characters that are original and exclusive to the world of Hearthstone!
Welcome to Week Two of my column looking back at my week in the world of Ink Link as well as thoughts for upcoming stories I hope to share in the near future.
Movember is an online charity movement to raise awareness of men’s health issues, both physical and mental, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide. In short, you grow a mustache for the month of November (no shame) to call attention to these important issues and try to solicit donations. As someone who lives with mental illness, the idea appealed to me.
Why have restaurants been somewhat singled out as ‘unsafe’? Is it the fact that we handle consumable products? Is it that we are places of gathering? Perhaps. But industries like grocers and home stores fall under similar categories respectively and seem to be doing quite well and have enjoyed much more relaxed mandates.
The COVID-19 pandemic is adversely impacting the lives of families across the state and has left many parents feeling stressed, anxious and struggling to cope. It has also put the mental health of children at risk.
If you haven’t yet, now’s the Time: Go Vote!
The state has to step up and do the right thing. Downtown Manchester will be a larger homeless shelter if nothing is done.
In my opinion, there is help for these people living near the courthouse and under the bridge. But, they have to want to help themselves! Give up firearms/weapons, not use alcohol/drugs. Until someone takes a stand, either on the city or state level, nothing is going to happen.
I am a landlady who has spent 10 years (what feels like a lifetime) running a family-owned business in the city of Manchester. Sadly, for the first time in 10 years, I’m feeling like this city and the state are suffering. The covid pandemic has wreaked havoc on all of our lives and businesses, creating an economic and humane ripple effect that needs to be acknowledged and addressed now.
Hello Manchester! Last week, I put up a Facebook post of a few places that I went to, but didn’t get to write about. So, after talking with Carol, I’ve decided to begin a new weekly-ish reporter’s notebook column looking back at my travels over the past week as well as what I might have missed and what’s coming next starting…..now.
Carla started at age six by making clothes for her stuffed animals. When her older sisters sewed and made dresses from Silhouette patterns. she collected the scraps and repurposed the fabric. In college at the University of Rhode Island she gravitated toward the Fashion, Merchandising, Textile and Design program. In between, she joined a girl band and made stage wear. Her business, Panaggio Designs, in Middletown, R.I., does all kinds of fashion, but currently, she’s mostly filling orders for competition bikinis and sportswear.
The Union Leader endorses Joe Biden for President in 2020 and we agree. However, I disagree with the editors’ proposal that voters split the ticket on New Hampshire’s congressional team.
While I agree that turning the clocks ahead in March for Daylight Savings Time to begin, thus mugging us for an hour of sleep, is unforgivable and flat-out unacceptable, turning said clocks back in November should not be open for debate.
It is hard to find anything good in the news, especially concerning medical care, in the COVID era. As a patient, there are times that I feel invisible to those around me. Harder still is the number of people I have grown to care for and found kinship with who also have CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome).
Candace Moulton is running for State Representative for Hillsborough district 44, which encompasses Manchester wards 8, 9, and the town of Litchfield.
The great irony of the reaction against Question 1 is that the forces attacking it under the false claim that it would allow the Board of the School Committee to override the tax cap portray themselves, in the political arena, as advocates of local control. What Question 1 does is give back control over the City Charter to the people of Manchester.
Merrimack and NH deserve better.
