The lobbyists will tell you that raising the minimum wage will crash the economy and people will lose their jobs, but history tells a different story. When they did it in Maine a couple of years ago, the lowest paid workers saw the greatest increase in income since 2001 and their unemployment rate fell to the lowest rate in 40 years.

In short, and perhaps unfairly to both, treatment partisans believe letters after one’s name are important while recovery supporters see lived experience as key.
PASS member Mike Yanis said he was “happy that this shutdown is over” but is concerned that it will happen again. He wants to see Congress take action to fully fund the government for the long term “instead of these constant short-term continuing resolutions.”
