Waypoint’s 2024 SleepOut hit a 10-year record, raising $411,000 (and counting) to address critical needs for young people experiencing homelessness in New Hampshire. Nearly 170 supporters bundled up and slept outside in 40 mile per hour winds to stand in solidarity with young people who experience homelessness each night across the state. Money raised from the March 29 overnight experiential fundraiser supports the state’s only low barrier young adult Emergency Shelter in Manchester and Youth Resource Centers in Concord and Rochester.

Hatred of transgender people, however, has taken a dark and unusual turn, one which strongly resembles the Nazi Party’s hatred of Jews. This particular hatred has become so strong, so virulent in recent years that legislatures across the country are passing any kind of law they can to take away any kind of right they think of from transgender individuals. The goal of this hatred, in the words of 2023 CPAC speaker Michael Knowles is: “to eradicate transgenderism.”

Two free public events, featuring presentations by Manchester Public Health, will be held April  9, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Beech Street Elementary School and May 7, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Parkside  Middle School. Presentations will introduce parents and families to the possible lead hazards in their homes, encourage early childhood testing, and explain the necessary actions and available services following a positive test.
