Our elected officials need to stop playing political games in demanding that everyone “kiss the ring” instead of putting their egos aside and opening their ears and eyes to the FACTS (which have been presented to them time and time again); last Tuesday’s meeting, and the fallout that came after, are a perfect example of this abuse of power.

The M&T Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of M&T Bank (NYSE:MTB), announced it has awarded $30,000 to Webster House Children’s Home. The grant is part of the 30 & 30 Initiative in which 30 organizations across the bank’s footprint received $30,000 to fight homelessness and develop affordable housing in low- to moderate-income communities. The 30 & 30 Initiative was launched in commemoration of the foundation’s 30th anniversary.

Already in 2024, Zoom, Home Depot, Wayfair, Snap, and Lyft have all cut their DEI teams by at least 50%, some completely eliminating the roles. At the educational levels, we’ve seen Harvard, University of Florida, and Johns Hopkins all eliminate the entirety of their DEI teams, or fold under the pressure of political interference while accepting the termination or resignation of their most visible DEI leaders and advocates – the vast majority of whom are women of color, and Black women to be specific.
