We all have our comfort TV shows and, this winter, weirdly, I’ve been binging “My Lottery Dream Home,” which is available on several streaming services. If you’re not familiar, the host, designer David Bromstad, guides lucky lottery (or settlement, or inheritance) winners in buying their “dream home.” The featured person or family looks at three homes suggested by local real estate brokers, David walks the lottery winner through the homes as they talk about the pros and cons. At the end, the person decides which home they’ll buy.

Katelyn Welch, PE has been selected by a jury of her peers from New Hampshire’s engineering societies as the 2024 New Hampshire Young Engineer of the Year. This distinguished award will be presented February 22 at the annual Engineers’ Week banquet in Concord. Welch was nominated by Structural Engineers of New Hampshire (SENH) based on her record of professional accomplishments, service to the profession and promoting engineering and volunteer activities in the community.

Soon after the New Year came around in 2024, Republican lawmakers in the New Hampshire state government submitted a series of bills aimed at fundamentally ending all legal recognition of any kind for transgender individuals. Bills submitted this year echo those submitted last year, which were part of a nationwide effort to deny transgender people access to medical care, use of public restrooms, and disallowing playing on sports teams that conform with their gender identity, among others.

The Service CU Impact Foundation is awarding over $100,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and adult learners. Additionally, for the first time since the scholarship program began in 2021, the Foundation will also award one $5,000 scholarship to an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing an education in the culinary arts.
