More importantly, the way they interacted on the stage—even when they had differences of opinions on policies or proposals—was civil, respectful and refreshing to see in a political forum. Both men stuck to the issues and never once resorted to the types of rabbit punches and ad hominem attacks that are commonplace in political debates.

Electing Kevin Cavanaugh as Manchester’s next Mayor is the next right step.  His years of elected experience as an Alderman and State Senator, his dedicated career to blue-collar, union work and workers, his unselfish volunteering for youth sports and activities, and his outspoken advocacy for affordable housing, reproductive health care access, public schools, and our City’s Safety infrastructure more than qualifies him.

Finally, as she always does, my wife became the voice of reason, pointing out that based on some old pictures of me as a kid on Halloween, I wasn’t exactly putting on a trick-or-treating Masterclass. There are pictures of me as a magician. As Daniel Boone, of course. As Casper the Friendly Ghost. As Batman, of course.

But I would not be the teacher am I today if it weren’t for one dedicated and passionate English professor who I had in multiple courses at Plymouth State. In fact, if it were not for Meg Petersen, I doubt very much that I would’ve ever stepped foot in a classroom.

Gradually, over the past decade, New Hampshire has been building the premier global hub for the emerging biofabrication and regenerative medicine industry. In other words: a new industry devoted to manufacturing cells, tissue, and organs that can revolutionize healthcare outcomes and quality of life for the better.  And it’s happening right here.

I have personally seen what Chris has done for thousands of Manchester’s kids and families. His youth sports organization, which he runs and manages himself, has brought thousands of kids and families together on fields across our city. It’s clear Chris Morgan cares about this community and its youth by putting in so much time and energy building important sports programs in places our city is lacking.

Recent action by NH Gov Chris Sununu and his Attorney General John Formella to showboat an increase of border patrol enforcement 10 fold and expend $1.4 million of NH tax money is way over the top and unnecessary.  Let’s remember that NH only borders Canada for 58 miles, virtually all of which is heavy forest, with the exception of a small country road crossing at Pittsburg, NH.

Observant readers will note the use of the past tense in that last sentence. Let me not bury the lead any further. I have resigned as director of Hope effective right away. Before rumors begin, I have not turpituded financially, sexually, behaviorally or any other way. Likewise, I have no policy or personnel disagreements with Hope’s board of directors. They are all fine people, as are the staff members and the membership of Hope. Hope is my vision of what a recovery center should be: a community of folks bonded by a love for each other and a desire to live without chemical assistance.

In the adult world, there are few clear binaries anymore. Nuances abound, and there are always shades of gray. But there’s one thing that remains relatively straightforward: You’re either a person who enjoys dressing up in a costume for Halloween, or you’re not.  I’m not a costume person.

With only a 50-50 “majority” in the Senate and a narrow House majority, the President achieved more in less than a single term than presidents have normally managed in two full terms. A letter isn’t long enough to summarize Biden’s many achievements.

As pretty much everyone knows, over the past several years, we have been experiencing a growing homeless population here in our beloved city. There are of course many reasons why people have taken a liking to Manchester, from access to services to other communities sending their homeless here, because, you know – “not in our backyard.” And it’s happening more than we know. I recently read where a man was sent here to Manchester via taxi because there were no services for him in his home community.

For some reason, I mentally imagine myself—a metacognitive ballet that I perform in clogs—as 36 years old. In my imagination, I stopped aging when I was old enough to no longer appear awkward but still spritely enough to feel young. It was a good age, 36, and for all intents and purposes, I stopped aging then.
