With Beech Street School 4th graders moving to middle school for 5th grade starting next year, QC Bike has decided to offer a package to all of this year’s fourth AND fifth graders at Beech Street School. This is no trivial expansion; it represents an increase of 95 students, bringing the total number to 225!

With New Hampshire facing a 43.9% statewide increase in food insecurity, the New Hampshire Food Bank is mobilizing efforts to fight back against hunger across the state. Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks, food pantries and local meal programs, recently released its “Map the Meal Gap 2024” report, which notes more than 135,200 New Hampshire residents are food insecure—a year-over-year increase of more than 41,000 individuals or 43.9%.

On May 13 and 14, as part of a parking lot repaving upgrade project directed by Market Basket (MB) in Milford, NH, and carried out by the contractor Continental Paving, about a half-acre of wet pond at the property’s entrance was dredged. The pond, designed in 1995 for stormwater drainage, had become populated by a dense stand of cattails that served as a nesting site for red-winged blackbirds and grackles.

I want to make it clear that I believe that there is a difference between the Separation of Church and State and the outright removal of God from the public square. For example, I do not believe that “In God We Trust” needs to be removed from money because it is a phrase and I do not believe that it alone establishes a religion. However, like John Locke, I believe in religious tolerance and believe that the government should be a secular institution. I believe that the government should serve the interests of all citizens regardless of their religious beliefs.
