The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester (MHCGM) held a grand opening ceremony Nov. 17 for the redevelopment project of their resident housing facility at 323 Manchester St., in Manchester. Mayor Joce Craig was one of the first to speak and thanked MHCGM for all they have done for Manchester, and for this building, which is wrapped in services. Patricia Carty, President and CEO of The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester expressed her pleasure in re-opening the residence after the completion of the expansion and remodel of the building. She said it was a milestone as cut the ribbon after owning the building for more than 40 years and demonstrated our commitment for our patients and our staff members for their well-being. She added, “We are not just opening doors, but we’re opening windows to hope and understanding.”

The mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, on October 25 shattered the false sense of security many of us in rural northern New England felt: that gun violence on such a scale could not happen in our backyard. It couldn’t happen in this bucolic setting, where someone who needs a hand gets it, and someone who can lend a hand usually gives it. But this mass shooting did happen, and it is painful and personal for those of us who live here and for the loved ones of those were injured and who died in Lewiston that day.

The Phaneuf Family Foundation’s 501(c)(3) board of directors announced on Wednesday that Betsy Ann Pelletier of Community Hospice House in Merrimack as its first Caregiver Superstar of the Year. The announcement was made earlier today at an annual professional caregiver event, hosted by Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium.

The BJ Cirnigliaro Memorial Fund, which was created in early 2021 by Absolute Title, has announced $25,000 in donations to seven local organizations – the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Crispin’s House, Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter, Families in Transition, NH Food Bank, Easterseals New Hampshire and the Salvation Army.
