A story published by Granite Post about a leaked group chat among leaders of the NH House Education Policy and Administration Committee has prompted NH Democrats to call for the resignation of a Bedford state lawmaker – who chairs the committee – and a fellow Republican for comments made about “segregated schools.”

Four months into the school year, the state Department of Education warned districts that those types of videos are now illegal under state law, unless the school has written permission from parents to audio or video record each student. The same applies to band concerts and, it appears, sporting events.

vThe Manchester Historic Association (MHA) is pleased to announce that it has selected five honorees for its 2026 Historic Preservation Awards, including awards to the new Queen City Center project on Canal Street and the Brookside Congregational Church for their care of the 1908 neo-Classical Manning house.    A new category this year is the Mid-Century Design Award, being presented to Doctors Park at Elliot Hospital for its well-preserved mid-century modern architecture.

Per Queen City tradition, following the conclusion of Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais’ inaugural address at the Palace Theatre, members of the newly sworn-in Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen and Manchester Board of School Committee walked a few hundred feet down Hanover Street toward City Hall for their biennial organizational meetings.

With Tuesday’s inauguration ceremony at the Palace Theatre, Ruais’ clock has begun to countdown once again as a reminder of the urgency he hopes to have toward making Manchester better over the next two years.
