In 2020, New Hampshire’s Black population was recorded as roughly 21,000 people, according to census data; that’s about 2% of the total population of the state. If there are 21,000 Black people in the Granite State, one has to assume that there are 21,000 ways to be Black.

North Main is now located in a commercial complex on Charron Avenue, after a 2015 move, and serves students primarily across Nashua and several neighboring New Hampshire and Massachusetts communities. It has roughly 225 students and is comprised of 15 instructors of various disciplines, including piano, violin and saxophone lessons.

For some reason, I still have all my report cards. Why? Not sure. But back in the day, in Philadelphia at least, report cards were printed, and the teachers had to fill in the “As” and “B’s” and actually write (using cursive) their comments for parents. I chose this particular report card to share to demonstrate what was being evaluated back in the day as well as to examine my fourth-grade teacher’s comments (You’ll note I wrote in my own penciled comments in the blank Third Report area.

Waypoint is shining a spotlight throughout New Hampshire on young people experiencing homelessness at the 10th Anniversary SleepOut event. On March 29, hundreds of people from across the state will spend a night out in the cold to expand the collective consciousness about homelessness and to raise funds to address critical needs for young people facing a myriad of challenges associated with homelessness.
