According to a police narrative of the incident, about 11:30 p.m. Manchester Police officers Clifford Ellston and Tom Whelan answered a call to Raxx, 1195 Elm St., to deal with a disorderly patron who had allegedly assaulted the nightclub manager. The clerk working at 11:30 p.m. told police he was in the back of the store when a man pushed him from behind and demanded cash from the register. The clerk turned around and noticed a silver box cutter in the robber’s hand, so he handed over an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

Slam Free or Die, in association with the Poetry Society of New Hampshire, will host the second annual NorthBeast Underground Team Slam (N.U.T.S.), Friday, Sept. 26 and Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at Milly’s Tavern in Manchester. The two-day event offers poetry writing and performance workshops and will culminate in a battle of words that will make the winning team $1,000 richer. Area poets are invited to compete, and the poetry battles, or bouts, are open to the public.
